The Walls

November 12th 2014: I got the north wall framed and laying on the floor frame. I was awaiting the insulation for the floor so, I worked around the problem.

November 14th 2014: Finished the framing of the three remaining walls. All were stacked waiting for time to lift them into position.

November 18th 2014: Still waiting on the insulation to come. So, I completed the precut work for the ceiling joists, attic wall studs and plates, and the plywood for the floor of the shed. All has been moved to the saw horses to the east of the floor.

November 23rd 2014: The insulation for the floor arrived and is ready to be installed. The floor decking will go on immediately after. I have arranged for Charles Gordon, a KRCE Board member, to come and help me lift the walls into place.

November 24th 2014: While waiting for Charles Gordon to come, I decided to drive out on Greentree Place and take this Status Photo.

November 25th 2014: Charles Gordon came as promised. We lifted the walls into place and set them square and vertical in short order. THANK YOU CHARLES! Another great neighbor. I love 'doers' instead of those who are complainers.

November 25th 2014: A view from the southwest. The framing looks quite nice. Walls up mean progress is faster now.

November 25th 2014: A view from the northwest. The sheathing has started.

November 25th 2014: A view from the southwest. The sheathing requires cutting and fitting pieces together now. I have smaller pieces of leftover plywood. The cutting and fitting requires more care. Plus there's the carrying down the hill to the shed area. Quite a lot more work than expected initially. Maybe age is catching up on me.

November 27th 2014: A view from the northeast. The sheathing went much faster today, after another overnight rain. I am working in mud constantly now and rain drops are never far between.

November 27th 2014: A view from the southwest. The sheathing on the main floor is done.

November 30th 2014: A view from the northwest. The attic ceiling joists are installed and the plywood is ready to be laid on the attic floor.

December 1st 2014: A view from the northwest. The floor sheathing on the attic floor is done and covered with plastic against the rain. The knee walls are installed.

December 1st 2014: The frames for the attic end windows are done.

The 2015 Construction Season

April 15th 2015: The east end of the attic is still open.

April 15th 2015: The south side just needs a new strip of roofing felt to cover the sheathing.

April 15th 2015: The north side and west end just need strips of roofing felt to cover the sheathing. Liza has been working hard to get the shingles on to avoid anymore tearing of the roofing felt.

April 15th 2015: The north side is fine now and the east end needs the sheathing to be done.

April 19th 2015: The east end sheathing is almost done. The north wall is trimmed and ready for stain on the shingles.

April 20th 2015: The west end tar paper was replaced.

April 20th 2015: The east end is sheathed and the tar paper is done. That means the walls are technically 'closed-in' and weather-tight. The roof at this point is just 'closed-in.'
