Concept for House Design

Random Ideas of a Crazy Man

1971: A Concept Series Based On 'Round' Triangles.

I was entranced by adobe as a material for houses. Adobe provides a 'plastic' medium similar to concrete or plaster and can be built to almost any shape. I wanted to see what houses might look like with an inexpensive, durable and flexible medium. Here I used three curved triangles tilted inward like a truncated teepee to form a floor that is like a bulging triangle.

In this view I shaped two walls as mirror images of rounded and tilted triangles. They come together at the rear of the house. At the front the wall which you see is actually curved outward toward us.

In this view I placed the first house in a landscape. The floor plan shows the bulging triangle floor.
